The first time I caught one of those, it almost made me jump out of the boat, when it came crawling across the floor of the boat to get me...lol Those things can scoot fast on land.

I catch those bowfin here in Ontario every year. I use live bait for them, by far the best fighting fish out there.

I usually catch bowfin on 10" worms and slow rolling spinner baits in the winter. Water temperature is about 64-degrees this weekend. I caught the bowfin on a Red fish bait called Red Fish magic by Strike King (Wal-Mart special). This bait works great here in FL.

wow, great video. I just had a great bowfin fishing trip myself here in south louisiana. I was catching fish 2 inches or same size of yours that you showed. I was curious if you have trouble catching them in cold weather as i am here now? Also what's the exact name of the bait you use and color? |
